The UK Chapter’s two-day conference exploring geosynthetics in Containment Engineering and Brownfield Remediation has been moved to next year.
The disruption caused by the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic prevents organizers going ahead with the event at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, on May 12 and 13.
In a message to IGS members, chapter chairman Andrew Belton said everyone’s health and safety were paramount in the decision to postpone the event to 2021.
He said: “It is with much regret that we have decided to postpone the event until a similar date next year. The decision was made primarily in the interests of our attendees’ health but also the practicalities of being able to deliver a symposium of the standard we want to deliver under current circumstances.
“We are working to secure a very similar line-up of speakers for this event next year. We are also in negotiation with the Etihad Stadium over a new date and we will inform you further in due course. We will be refunding all payments for both exhibition stands and individual tickets over the coming weeks. We will be issuing separate communication to those whom this affects shortly.”
Updates on the new dates, speaker information and more will be posted here as soon as it becomes available.
