Three of the world’s foremost geosynthetics experts will share their knowledge and insights at ISGPEG 2021.
Dr Richard J. Bathurst, Daniele Cazzuffi and Dr Kerry Rowe will all present plenary keynote sessions at the IGS Turkish Chapter’s postponed event in Istanbul.
Dr Bathurst is Professor Emeritus at the Royal Military College of Canada, and has held multiple positions of responsibility across the Engineering Institute of Canada, the Canadian Geotechnical Society and within the IGS. His talk on model developments for MSE design will build on an impressive research career that has included the authoring and co-authoring of more than 400 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Cazzuffi is a former IGS President and IGS award-winner, and the current President of CEN (European Committee on Standardization) TC 189. He will speak about six decades of successful geosynthetics use in dams.
Dr Rowe has been researching and consulting in the fields of geosynthetics, geotechnical engineering, hydrogeology, soil reinforcement, and geoenvironmental engineering for 45 years. He will give a personal perspective on how geosynthetics can help protect the environment.
ISGPEG 2021 is themed on Innovative Solutions for Geotechnical Problems and will honor Professor Erol Guler, the leading geosynthetics scientist in Turkey. Topics under discussion will include recent innovations in geotechnical engineering, testing, modeling and monitoring, and risk analysis.
Conference Chair Ayşe Edinçliler said: “Conferences like ISGPEG 2021 are opportunities to share new thinking about geosynthetics, counter-balanced against the real-life experience of senior professionals. As such, we are thrilled to have such an experienced and informed trio of plenary speakers.
“We look forward to welcoming Richard, Daniele, Kerry and many other distinguished professionals and academics to Istanbul.”
