The below describes the basic features of TC306’s upcoming online conference on Geotechnical Engineering Education GEE 2020 on June 23-25, 2020.
During the conference, we will hear pre-recorded lectures from 6 distinguished speakers, 3 from geotechnical engineering (Mark Jaksa, Rodrigo Salgado, Minna Karstunen) and 3 from education (Susan Ambrose, Ton de Jong, Vasilia Christidou). In addition to the papers by the invited speakers, conference proceedings include 23 papers, which have already been uploaded to ISSMGE’s online library. From these papers, 19 will be presented as pre-recorded presentations, 13 will be discussed in the virtual presence of the authors in 5 live Q/A sessions and 16 will accept written comments in a forum. The program on Wednesday 24/6 and Thursday 25/6 closes with invited presentations in 2 live panel sessions on the topics “Geo-engineering education papers: scope, characteristics and use” (24/6) and “Building a community of scholarly education practice” (25/6), followed by discussion.
Depending on time constraints and how actively you would like to participate, you may choose between two registration types:
- 220 euros, interactive participant: attend all conference sessions, interact with presenters and panel members, access the written forum and watch all pre-recorded sessions on demand until July 15
- 50 euros, view-only participant: attend during the conference dates, June 23-25, 2020
Conference participants who are young geotechnical engineering educators (40 year-old or younger on June 23, 2020) are eligible to apply for a 2000-euro competitive prize that covers participation in an engineering education conference of their choice. The name of the awardee will be announced at the closing session.
I invite you to be part of GEE 2020!
