Attendees of a seminar on the construction technology of geosynthetic reinforced walls (GRS) for railways observed work on the new Shanghai-Chengdu line.
The high-speed line is being developed in Yichang, Hubei Province, and was an opportunity for participants to understand more about the project’s GRS walls.
A construction technology seminar was held following the site visit, where detailed reports were shared, including design methods, construction processes, and on-site monitoring. There was also an opportunity for discussion on quality control and technical innovation of GRS walls in railway projects.
Dr. Huabei Liu, Secretary General of IGS China, said: “The seminar provided a comprehensive discussion on the entire set of construction technologies for GRS walls, including design methods, construction processes, quality control, on-site monitoring, and standardization, which promotes the application of GRS walls in railway projects and the high-quality development of the geosynthetics industry.”
More than 50 experts and representatives from the Chinese National Railway Group, China Railway Group Limited, China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, relevant universities, and geosynthetics manufacturing companies attended the event on January 11.
It was jointly organized by the Technical Committee of Standardization (Subgrade) of China Railway Society and the Technical Committee of Reinforcement and Stabilization of China Technical Association on Geosynthetics (CTAG).
