TC-Stabilization Workshop: Geosynthetics in Road and Airfield Pavements (AM3P Conference, Vienna)
A preconference workshop on Geosynthetics in Road and Airfield Pavements will be held as part of the Advances in Materials and Pavement Performance Prediction (AM3P) Conference (https://www.am3p.com/). This workshop will take place on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in Vienna and is co-sponsored by the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) Technical Committee on Stabilization (https://www.geosyntheticssociety.org/council-committees/technical-committees/stabilization/).
Workshop Title:
Geosynthetics in Road and Airfield Pavements
Workshop Overview:
Geosynthetics offer sustainable solutions for improving the performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness of highway and airfield pavements. This workshop will serve as a platform to explore the diverse applications of geosynthetics in pavements, including:
- The mechanisms governing their use in different applications
- Key geosynthetic properties relevant to pavement performance
- Available design methodologies
- Case studies showcasing real-world implementations
Key Topics:
AM3P conference participants are encouraged to present and share research findings and case studies on geosynthetic applications in pavements, including but not limited to:
- Mitigation of asphalt reflective cracking
- Stabilization of unbound aggregate layers
- Prevention of layer intermixing (separation)
- Moisture reduction (drainage) in structural layers
- Stabilization of soft subgrades
- Mitigation of distress caused by expansive clays and frost-susceptible soils
If you are interested in presenting, please send your presentation title to Erol Tutumluer, AM3P Pavement Geotechnics Track Coordinator and IGS TC-Stabilization Chair.
Registration for the workshop (https://www.am3p.com/workshop-overview-2025) is encouraged by Friday, April 25, 2025.
