Nominations are invited to become the next LMNS Lecturer in the prestigious speaker series recognizing excellence in geosynthetics.
The IGS European Regional Activities Committee (ERAC), which supports the organizing committee of EuroGeo conferences, is seeking candidates for the accolade, established in honor of and named after members of the organizing committee of the first International Conference on Geosynthetics (ICG).
Nominees from all IGS members and Chapters are welcome, but also from non-IGS members and even people based outside Europe. However, all candidates should demonstrate the pursuit of excellence in geosynthetics, and be someone who has contributed to the wider development of the geosynthetics discipline either directly or indirectly in Europe.
The successful nominee will be invited to deliver a 60-minute presentation at the opening session of EuroGeo8 in September 2025 and provide a paper in late 2024 in support of the lecture which will be published alongside conference proceedings.

The deadline for nominations is December 22, 2023. Submissions will be reviewed by the IGS ERAC Selection Task Force with a decision presented to the IGS Officers for final approval in February 2024. The successful candidate will be notified by the end of that month.
You can submit nominations via email in the form of a one-page written submission to IGS ERAC Chair Patricia Guerra-Escobar at patricia@geosyn.co.uk and EuroGeo8 Committee member Pascal Rossigny at pascal.rossigny@cerema.fr.
The LMNS Lecture opens each edition of the quadrennial EuroGeo conference. It was named using the first letter of the surnames of the four-member organizing committee of the 1st ICG in Paris in April 1977; E. Leflaive, A. McGown, J. Nieuwenhuis and M. Sotton. Since its establishment, there have been two LMNS Lecturers – Dr. Daniele Cazzuffi at EuroGeo6 and Professor Martin Ziegler at EuroGeo7.
EuroGeo8 will be held from September 15-18, 2025 in Lille, France. Watch this space for updates.
