Face-to-face participation returns to the conference calendar as organizers continue to develop four headline events in 2022 and 2023, following postponement during the pandemic.
Sustainability is a key theme and the conferences are a unique opportunity to hear top speakers, share the latest thinking and collaborate with worldwide colleagues on this important topic. Special events and initiatives for Young Members are included, as well as site visits and a social program.
The upcoming conferences are:
- GeoAsia7 in Taipei, Taiwan, on April 11-15, 2022. Themed ‘Hazard Risk Management, Innovation and Sustainability’, keynote lecturers include Kerry Rowe, Daniel Cazzuffi, and Takeshi Katsumi. It also includes the Young Engineers Conference. Abstract deadline submission is August 31, this year.
- EuroGeo7 in Warsaw, Poland, on September 4-7, 2022. The Polish Chapter of the IGS is preparing to welcome keynote speakers Martin Ziegler, Fumio Tatsuoka, Jie Han, and Kerry Rowe. The event also includes a special session from the IGS Officers on ‘Geosynthetics in the circular economy: trends, challenges, future actions’.
- GeoAfrica in Cairo, Egypt, on February 20-23, 2023. Hosted by the Egyptian Chapter of the IGS, the event is themed ‘Geosynthetics in Sustainable Infrastructures and Mega Projects’. It is welcoming abstracts until early 2022.
- 12th International Conference on Geosynthetics in Rome, Italy, on September 17-23, 2023. The four-yearly flagship event is this time hosted by the Italian Chapter of the IGS and themed ‘Geosynthetics: leading the way to a resilient planet’. Abstract submissions open on November 16, this year.
