Sharing the development and successes of one of the IGS’s most long-running Chapters will form the basis of the 4th Romanian Conference on Geosynthetics next year.
GeoSint 2025 takes place in Bucharest on April 3-4, 2025, and will be themed ‘Celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Romanian Geosynthetics Association‘.
The Association was formed in 1990 and in 1996 became the first Eastern European Chapter of the IGS. It previously held GeoSint conferences in 1998, 2002 and 2007. Organizers felt the time was right to revive the event, and with a more contemporary format.
Chapter President Ernest Olinic said: “The Chapter’s 35th anniversary next year felt like an ideal time to hold our national conference on geosynthetics. It is also a wonderful opportunity to put the Romanian geosynthetics industry in the spotlight and share our research, knowledge and experiences with our worldwide colleagues.
“As well as a busy technical program, we have plans for anniversary events including a special session, a journey through time, about the use of geosynthetic materials in Romania, and the history of IGS Romania from its formation to the present. We look forward to seeing you there and celebrating with us.”
With a programme yet to be finalized, the conference, held at the University of Civil Engineering Bucharest, at Aula Magna, will feature a selection of published papers and a variety of keynote lectures from eminent speakers including IGS President Samuel Allen, Daniele Cazzuffi, Patricia Guerra-Escobar, and Martin Ziegler.
There will also be a technical exhibition where producers, distributors and users of geosynthetics from Romania and abroad will be invited to present their activities, technologies and products.
