The IGS has secured a host of benefits for members after endorsing one of the industry’s premier conferences on geotechnical engineering.
The Geotechnical Frontiers conference is organized by the Advanced Textile Association’s (ATA) Geosynthetic Materials Association (GMA) – an IGS sister society – and the American Society of Civil Engineer’s Geo-Institute (GI). It runs every six years and combines the Geosynthetics Conference and Geo-Institute’s annual Geo-Congress event.
The endorsement enables member benefits including:
- Registration discounts at the same rates as ATA and Geosynthetics International members.
- An IGS booth to enable the Society to provide greater outreach to new and potential members.
- An opportunity for an IGS Officer to address delegates before the event’s Robert M. Koerner Lecture.
- An opportunity to advance the understanding and adoption of geosynthetics in sustainable projects at an IGS Sustainability Committee special session on ‘Geosynthetics: A proven path to Resilience & Sustainability’.
As well as endorsing the conference, the IGS earlier signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the GMA at the recent 5th GeoAmericas conference in Toronto, Canada.
IGS President Sam Allen said: “Not only does the MOU allow us to further improve and share knowledge with our sister society but will foster greater collaboration and opportunities for our mutual members. We’re also delighted to endorse Geotechnical Frontiers and the benefits this will bring to our members directly and on their behalf.”
Geotechnical Frontiers takes place on March 2-5, 2025, at Kentucky International Convention Center, and is set to feature more than 200 exhibits, high profile speakers, technical paper lectures, panel and roundtable discussions, short courses, and networking opportunities.
