Two exciting developments to IGS Corporate Membership are in the pipeline.
The IGS leadership strives to better serve the needs of its Corporate Members and is introducing additional incentives to being part of this growing community.
The IGS is firstly proposing a new approach to the IGS Corporate Committee. The Committee is the Society’s main channel for formal consultation with Corporate Members, but is currently a ‘closed’ committee, meaning its members are composed only of current IGS Council Members.
In a bid to make the Committee more inclusive, the IGS will open it up for all Corporate Members to join. The Chair will be elected by existing Corporate Members and will have a seat on the IGS Council. Representatives of Corporate Members may also serve as co-chairs on a regional basis.
This means Corporate Members will have a year-round platform for active networking with counterparts and potential clients, a means to give regular feedback, comments and ideas to the IGS leadership, and a greater say in shaping the IGS’s future plans and activities.
The IGS is also introducing a Premium Corporate Membership scheme. The move was prompted following consultation with the IGS’s larger Corporate Members who are looking for greater levels of engagement and benefits with the Society and wider user networks.
Details of additional benefits will be driven by the feedback and input of Corporate Members, but could include extras such as advanced access to market data, discounts on exclusive software tools, and representation at non-IGS trade shows by IGS staff. Corporate Members will have the chance to discuss details of the Premium package through the Corporate Committee in the coming months.
Premium membership will incur a higher annual fee than the standard Corporate Membership rate, which will still include all the current benefits and stay at $2,500.
To establish the groundwork for new levels of Corporate membership, the entire IGS membership will soon be asked to vote for amendments to the IGS Bylaws. Once amendments have been passed, members will be invited to offer input to form the details.
IGS President Sam Allen said: “Members are our lifeblood and we’re committed to improving our offering to ensure that the IGS is serving all our members’ needs. We hope these new developments will help our Corporate Members take a leading role in shaping their Society and provide them with a more enriching experience for their businesses and employees.”
All Corporate Members will have received an email about these proposed changes in the last week. More information on both these initiatives will be shared in due course. If you have any questions in the meantime, please email IGS Secretariat Manager Elise Oatman at igssec@geosyntheticssociety.org.
