David Shercliff and Kasia Zamara will share how the IGS has spent ‘40 years saving the earth’ at their IGS 40th Birthday Week Lecture on Tuesday, November 7. REGISTER HERE
The experienced pair, representing the span of generations in the IGS family, will review sustainability influencers and events in geosynthetics over the last 40 years, the work and aims of the IGS Sustainability Committee, and the outlook for the future. They will also share their thoughts on the issues the industry are and will be facing for the next generation of engineers.
You can hear Mr Shercliff and Ms Zamara at 7am Central Time (1pm UTC, 1pm GMT) with the talk moderated by IGS Executive Director John Kraus.
The talk is part of a series of exclusive lectures between November 6-10, celebrating four decades of the IGS. It is an opportunity to reflect on where the IGS has come from and its ambitions for the future. The series culminates in a not-to-miss talk by geosynthetics pioneer J.P. Giroud on November 10 – the IGS’s birthday – hosted by IGS President Sam Allen.
The week also includes ‘Ask the Officer’ sessions with all five of the IGS Officers, where IGS members have the chance to send in pre-submitted questions answered live. Questions should be sent to IGS Secretariat-Manager Elise Oatman at igssec@geosyntheticssociety.org.
