Geosynthetics research in Portuguese and Spanish will now enjoy a greater reach thanks to Geotecnia’s inclusion on Scopus.
Open access journal Geotecnia has now been indexed on the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature, building on its existing indexation on Google Scholar, Sherpa Romeo, EBSCO, and the Directory of Open Access Journals.
Geotecnia was established in 1971 by the Portuguese Geotechnical Society, of which IGS Portugal is a part. It publishes three times a year and only accepts submissions in Portuguese and Spanish.
Each year around 3,500 new titles are suggested for inclusion in Scopus, but only a third of those meet the technical criteria of its independent review board.
IGS Portugal President Madalena Barroso said: “It’s a great privilege to be accepted onto Scopus, not only giving us a wider audience for discussions on geosynthetics, but enabling work from members of Portuguese or Spanish-speaking Chapters to be shared and noticed in their native language.
“This gives members a worldwide stage on which to present their ideas, guarantees certain accreditation, supports career advancement, helps them build a reputation among the global scientific community, and paves the way for collaborative opportunities.
“We urge readers to explore Geotecnia online, where all 157 volumes can be downloaded free of charge, or on one of the indexed databases. You will find Geotecnia articles from 2019 onwards on Scopus.”
Geotecnia features research articles, case studies, state-of-the-art review articles, technical notes and discussions of previously published papers, on all matters related to geotechnical engineering. This includes soil mechanics, rock mechanics, geosynthetics, environmental geotechnics and engineering geology.
