Learn how geosynthetics design standards have evolved and improved at an IGS UK webinar this month.
Geotechnical engineering expert Derek Smith, regional director of Coffey Geotechnics Limited based in Reading, UK, will be speaking on ‘Developing the next generation of geosynthetic design standards (ISO TC221)’.
In 2012, the International Standards Organisation Technical Committee 221 (ISO TC221) wanted to develop international design standards for geosynthetics. In order to do so, Mr Smith helped create ‘Working Group 6 – Design Using Geosynthetics’. Now, a series of 10 Technical Reports (TR18228-1 to TR18228-10) is nearing completion, with six already published.
The webinar on September 13 at 6pm UK time will explain the project’s objectives, the development process, challenges faced, and highlight some key points the Technical Reports have raised. Next steps will also be shared.
