Hear the findings of extensive research into the field performance of final covers at an upcoming IGS Technical Committee on Barrier Systems (TC-B) webinar.
Professor Craig Benson, of the University of Wisconsin and the University of Virginia, in the USA, will speak on ‘Landfill final covers: field hydrology, in-situ hydraulic properties and long-term performance’.
The talk will explore lessons learned during Prof. Benson’s 25-year research into the performance of final covers using earthen and geosynthetic materials, including changes in the properties of the materials over time and implications for long-term performance. Final cover strategies that are effective – and those that should be avoided – will be discussed.
Prof. Benson is recognized as one of the foremost international authorities on waste containment systems and is widely sought after for his expertise in design, operation, and performance assessment of waste disposal facilities.
