Vibrant Warsaw is getting ready to welcome visitors to Europe’s largest regional geosynthetics conference – have you secured your ticket?
The city’s historic Palace of Culture and Science will be hosting delegates from around the world for the long-awaited 7th European Geosynthetics Conference, or EuroGeo7, from September 4-7, 2022. Despite multiple postponements due to the pandemic, organizers are undeterred in creating a stimulating program of high-profile talks, unmissable workshops, seminars and short courses. There will also be a robust business exhibition showcasing the latest in geosynthetics innovation and development, and plenty of networking opportunities – both key given new openings for the geosynthetics industry stimulated by post-Covid EU recovery spending.
Themed ‘Geosynthetics for emerging Europe’, the conference will cover a comprehensive range of topics, from coastal protection and pavements, to mining and wastewater. Keynote speakers are Professors Martin Ziegler, Fumio Tatsuoka, and Jie Han, and Dr. Kerry Rowe. Sustainability will also play a key part in discussions, with IGS Officers leading a special session on ‘Geosynthetics in the circular economy: trends, challenges, future actions’. Further conference highlights include a day-long Polish-language session with up to 30 lectures mainly focused on new developments and case histories, a gala dinner and cultural tours.
Attending is now even more hassle-free after Poland lifted its Covid-related entry restrictions on March 28. This means visitors no longer have to quarantine on arrival, take a pre-departure test or demonstrate their vaccine status.
IGS Poland’s Jakub Bryk said: “Our determination to stage EuroGeo7 has been fierce, despite several postponements due to the pandemic. Now we are just four months away from launch, which is all the more important for bringing people together in-person, face-to-face, after two years away from real connection. This can only benefit how we engage, do business and problem-solve for a sustainable future. We look forward to welcoming everyone to our amazing city!”
