Wall design, dams and liners will be explored in detail by the prestigious speakers of the forthcoming ISGPEG 2021 conference.
Dr Richard J. Bathurst, Dr. Daniele Cazzuffi and Dr Kerry Rowe will all present plenary keynote sessions at the conference hosted by the Turkish Chapter of the IGS.
The event, themed ‘Innovative Solutions for Geotechnical Problems’, is in honor of Professor Erol Guler, the leading geosynthetics scientist in Turkey. It is due to take place at Bogazici University in Istanbul on a date to be announced after its postponement from June, this year, because of Covid-19 disruption.
ISGPEG delegates can expect a packed program, including thought-provoking content from keynote lectures:
- Model developments for MSE wall design. Dr. Bathurst will be reviewing current methods and sharing data from tests on mechanically stabilized earth wall projects in Japan and North America.
- 1959-2020: More than 60 years of successful applications of geosynthetics in dams. Dr. Cazzuffi will review past and current uses of geosynthetic barriers in various types of dams including barrier and filter function.
- Protecting the environment using geosynthetics: a personal perspective. Dr. Rowe will look at geomembranes and geosynthetic clay liners in barrier systems and related challenges in design and construction.
