The Federation of International Geo-Engineering Societies (FedIGS) has launched a newly revamped website that aims to create a user-friendly browsing experience and enhance awareness of the society.
The Federation of International Geo-Engineering Societies (FedIGS) is a collaborative endeavor that brings together four major geotechnical societies. FedIGS facilitates interaction between these learned societies’ members, promotes common interests, and mobilizes collective action on key issues.
The four sister societies of the federation are:
- International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE)
- International Society of Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM)
- International Association of Engineering Geology and the Environment (IAEG)
- International Geosynthetics Society (IGS)
The FedIGS Board, IAEG, ISRM , IGS and ISSMGE created a number of Joint Technical Committees and approved the JTC Guidelines. These JTCs operate now under the umbrella of the Federation of International Geo-engineering Societies – FedIGS.
Joint Technical Committees that unite the member associations include:
- JTC1 Natural Slopes and Landslides
- JTC2 Representation of Geo-Engineering Data
- JTC3 Education and Training
