Technical Committees
The IGS’ Technical Committees (TCs) promote the knowledge, design and methodologies related to geosynthetics and their associated technologies. The TCs are at the heart of IGS member engagement and are a platform for influence in the wider geotechnical engineering community.
The Committees are organised around four core specialisms:
Barrier Systems
- Seepage loss, preventing infiltration, improving the flow of fluids, protecting groundwater and isolating contaminated soils
Hydraulic Applications
- Drainage, erosion control and coastal protection
Soil Reinforcement
- Reinforced soil walls and abutments; reinforced soil steep slopes; basal reinforcement of embankments on soft soil, on piles, and on voids; veneer reinforcement of shallow soil layers on slopes
Stabilization
- Improved performance of bases and subbases of roadways, railways, airfields, and working platforms
If you wish to establish a new TC, please contact Dr. Chungsik Yoo, Chair of Technical Committee Coordination.
